Programme Aims
- Preparing students and promoting their learning in the area of Islamic Banking and Finance, deep understanding of Fiqh Al- Mua’malat , the scholars’ opinions and their differences in various issues.
- Developing students’ skills in understanding Islamic Banking and Finance and having the ability to search and ponder over methodological problems and issues.
- Developing the behavioural and practical student skills that are necessary for communicating with the society in order to convey the values of Shariah that are concerned with emergent salient issues.
Programme Objectives:
- Enriching the students with the Fiqh al- Mua’malat knowledge
- Preparing the students to become researchers in various fields of Islamic Banking and Finance.
- Developing the social interactive Da’wah skills of the students.
Learning outcomes:
- Graduating a generation of specialist researchers in different fields of Islamic Banking and Finance.
- Facilitating the means of learning Islamic Banking and Finance.
- Implanting the Islamic belief system in the hearts of the Muslims.

Students must conduct research under the supervision of an academic Professor and submit a thesis for the fulfillment of the graduation requirements. In addition, he/she must register for and pass subject(s) as required by the Faculty or University before submitting the thesis.
Entry Requirement:
- A relevant Masters’ degree (Honors) with good grades from MEDIU, or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the university; or
- Any other certificate that is recognized as an equivalent to a Masters’ degree (Honors) or other relevant professional qualification and experience that are recognized by the University.
- A relevant General Masters’ degree (without honors) with at least one year working experience, and
- If deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for an entrance test in order to determine his eligibility for admission to a specific programme.
- The department of the faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy additional conditions for admission to a specific programme.
Language Requirement:
All applicants must meet the English Language requirements before being admitted to the programme. This could include:
- Having English as their mother tongue, OR
- Substantially Worked /studied in an English-speaking country, OR
- English Language qualification (TOEFL : 550/ IELTS : 5.5), OR
- A minimum MUET overall band score of 4, OR
- Any other qualification which is of equivalent level as determined by the Senate of the University.
