Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction (by research)
Programme Aims
- To create researchers in curriculum and instruction with advanced qualifications in teaching methods, research, strategic knowledge and skills necessary for leading and managing all issues relating to the contemporary issues in this field.
- To develops within each candidate the expertise and skills necessary to be an effective educator and researcher.
- To produce researchers who can advance Islamic teachings and practice, and benefit from the contributions of earlier Muslim educators in making contemporary methodologies and curricular have an Islamic outlook.
- To encourages creativity, analytical thinking, critical analysis, and problem-solving.
- To produce graduates with advanced capabilities in leadership and managing change in the field of curriculum and instruction.
- Graduates will be able to examine any formal organization and discern its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and in turn, they will be able to make modifications accordingly.
- To provide the opportunity for considerable personal development, such that the graduate achieves a greater level of effectiveness as a professional practitioner.
- To engender an enjoyable educational experience responsive to the rapid rate of technological, organizational and global changes shaping modern day educator capable of playing his role as well as assisting others excel in his field of specialization.

- Enriching the students with the advanced leadership and managerial skills in effectively and critically analyzing issues related to curriculum and instruction
- Preparing students to be able to respond to global educational changes in view of the significance, centrality of curriculum and instruction in a modern educational system
Learning outcomes:
- Make significant intellectual contributions to the body of knowledge in field of curriculum and instruction besides providing innovative solutions to the day-to-day problems faced in this field.
- Apply the teachings of the Quran to contemporary Muslim methodological and curriculum problems.
- Explain and apply a range of methods employed and compare them with methods frequently used in teaching to solve current Muslim methodological and curricular problems in this field.
- Critically evaluate current teaching-methods in order to assess their quality and applicability in improving the curricular and teaching methods.
- Acquire and utilize knowledge and contribution of earlier Muslim educators in dealing with strategic curricular and methodological issues to improve the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process.
- Identify, analyze and evaluate internal and external environmental influences on methods and curricular, in order to develop strategic plans for the management of change and the development of new methodologies and curricular to be linked directly to the educational experiences with the Muslim communities learning methodological needs and problems all over the globe.

Entry requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized university; or
- A Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE); or
- Open entry for applicants who are not less than 35 years with a teaching experience of not less than (5) years in a related field and must have attained a pass in STPM/ matriculation and other related qualifications.

The study scheme/period of Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction by research is two years as a minimum (four semesters.)
Course Structure
The proposed program is Masters’ by research thus there will be no subjects to be offered.
