Programme Aims
- To create Doctors of Education in curriculum and instruction with advanced skills in teaching, research, managerial, entrepreneurial, and strategic knowledge and skills necessary for leading and managing all facets of contemporary Muslim methodologies of disseminating the Islamic message.
- To develop within each candidate the expertise and skills necessary to be an effective educator and faculty member.
- To produce researchers who can relate curriculum and instruction to contemporary Islamic teachings and practice, by benefiting from the contributions of earlier Muslim scholars.
- To encourage creativity, analytical thinking, critical analysis, and Innovative problem-solving.
- To produce graduates with advanced capabilities in leadership and managing change. Graduates will be able to examine any formal organization and discern its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. In turn, they will be able to make prognoses and prescriptions accordingly.
- To advance the long term viability of candidates’ employer organizations through the candidate’s high level intellectual contributions and innovative problem solving abilities.
- To provide opportunity for considerable personal development, such that the PhD graduates achieve a greater level of effectiveness as a professional practitioner, educator, or manager. Upon graduation, participants will have developed a Portfolio of personal, transferable competencies appropriate for their planned and projected career objectives as a committed Muslim educator.
- To engender an enjoyable educational experience responsive to the rapid rate of technological, organizational and global changes shaping modern day educator capable of playing his role as well as assisting others to properly play their role of a vicegerent.
Programme Objectives:
- Qualify researchers in curriculum and instruction capable of finding solutions to contemporary Muslim problems
- Qualify graduates able to teach with the best modern approaches besides Qualifying researchers with a high level of creativity in curriculum and instruction.
- Qualify graduates with critically innovative oriented minds in developing new approaches and curricular
- Enriching the students with the advanced leadership and managerial skills in effectively and critically analyzing curricular and teaching methods.
- Preparing students to be able to respond to global educational changes in view of the significance, centrality of curriculum and instruction in a modern educational system
Learning outcomes:
- Make significant intellectual contributions to the body of knowledge and provide innovative solutions to the day-to-day problems faced in curriculum and instruction.
- Apply the teachings of the Quran to contemporary Muslim curricular and methodological problems.
- Explain and apply a range of curricular and methodologies to current Muslim problems.
- Critically evaluate current teaching-methods in order to assess their quality and applicability in improving the curriculum and instruction.
- Acquire and utilize knowledge and contribution of earlier Muslim educators in dealing with strategic curriculum and instruction issues to improve the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process.
- Identify, analyze and evaluate internal and external environmental influences on curriculum and instruction in order to develop strategic plans for the management of change and the development of new methodologies.

Entry requirements:
- Master’s degree in Education from a recognized university; or

The study scheme/period of Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction by research is three years as a minimum (six semesters.)
