The Endowment Unit of Al-Madinah International University PDF Print E-mail

"With your help we teach your children and your Muslim brethren to become qualified leaders and successful individuals.”

Al-Madinah International University established the Endowment Unit to oversee and coordinate its endowment projects, which have the goal of disseminating knowledge of the Shari`ah as well as knowledge of a general nature and to help students throughout the Muslim world to lift themselves out of ignorance and to take a role in spreading knowledge to others and to participate in returning the Muslim Ummah to eminence and civilizational excellence and to elevate its status among all the other peoples and nations of the world.

Al-Madinah International University was established from its very inception on the principle of al-waqf (Islamic charitable endowment), which has been and continues to be a fundamental resource for financing intellectual activity throughout the history of Islamic civilization. In fact, Al-Madinah International University is an entirely non-profit waqf project. It strives to disseminate knowledge and to prepare individuals of the Muslim Ummah with intellectual qualifications by providing them with useful knowledge as well as modern technical training and skills and lofty, accredited academic qualifications. It also strives to prepare them with leadership skills and make them scholars who apply Islam in their own lives and successful individuals who take leading roles in serving the societies in which they live, in particular, and the Muslim Ummah, in general.

The founders of this blessed University (may Allah shower them with rewards) have expended exhaustive efforts and substantial sums of money in order to establish it, seeking thereby reward from Allah. It is today illuminating the vast Islamic world from its location in one of the most successful and progressive Muslim countries in knowledge and civilizational attainments, Malaysia. The university is officially recognized and accredited by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education and enjoys unparalleled approval from its wise government.

In addition, the university is unique in its marshalling and coordination of academic and scholarly resources with administrative skills and technical proficiency from all over the Muslim world. It starts with the primary administrative and technical center in Malaysia, employing a select staff of administrators and qualified technicians. The academic content is produced in our Cairo offices, which employ a distinguished team of scholars from the most renowned Egyptian universities. Oversight and guidance are provided by our offices in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, the original fount of Prophetic guidance. In addition, we have regional offices spread across the world to provide educational services to students, who are currently concentrated in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. Steps are currently being taken to expand our presence in the near future to encompass an extensive portion of the vast Muslim world.

The University is now offering an opportunity for our brethren of ample means in the Muslim world to share in this beneficial project. They have the chance to help take our brethren from throughout the Muslim world by the hand and lead them toward academic and intellectual advancement. By doing so, they will make Islamic brotherhood and solidarity a reality. They will open the doors of benevolence and ongoing charity, the reward of which never stops accumulating. They will enjoy its blessings in this world and the hereafter.

We appeal to our generous, good-hearted, philanthropic brethren upon whom Allah has bestowed ample means to extend a helping hand to their Muslim brothers and make it possible for them to learn beneficial knowledge that will help them set aright their affairs in this world and the hereafter. By doing so they will share in elevating this Ummah, which Allah has chosen to be the best community brought forth for humanity, and they will make themselves eligible for the great rewards which Allah has promised for those of His servants who spend their wealth in His way. Allah said,

“Those who spend their wealth [in Allah’s way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly, they will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will come upon them, nor will they grieve.” [Surah al-Baqarah: 274.]

Allah also said,

“Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, they look forward to imperishable gain—that He may give them their rewards in full and increase them of His grace. Indeed, He is Forgiving and Appreciative.”
[Surah al-Faatir: 29-30]

He also said,

“They forsake their beds to cry to their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of what We have bestowed on them. And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do.”
[Surah al-Sajdah: 16-17]

And Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) said, “If anyone gives sadaqah from what was earned honestly—and Allah will only accept what is wholesome—the Most Merciful will accept it with His right hand, even if it is a date, and it will grow in the hand of the Most Merciful until it becomes larger than a mountain [in reward], just as one of you would raise up a foal.” Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported it; Sahih Muslim, the Book of Zakah, Chapter: Acceptance of Charity from Earnings and Making it Grow.

Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) also said, “Every single morning that the servants [of God] rise, they are visited by two angels. One of them says, ‘O Allah, replace the wealth of who spends [it for Your sake],’ and the other says, ‘O Allah, destroy the [wealth of] the miser.’” Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported it; Sahih Muslim, the Book of Zakah, Chapter: The Generous Spender and the Miser.

We ask the Magnificent and Majestic Lord to magnify the reward for everyone who has participated in any way in establishing this modern educational institution and supporting it in that which will benefit the Muslim Ummah.
And May Allah give everyone the ability to do that which pleases Him.
