CALCULATION OF GRADE POINTS

You may submit an appeal in the following situations:
  1. All subjects, except those without Quality Point Equivalent, shall be taken into account in computing your semester’s Grade Point Average (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Based on the CGPA obtained, you will be given the following status:
    • arrow Pass
    • arrow Warning
    • arrow Probation
    • arrow Dismissal

  2. Grade-Point-Average (GPA)
This is your average grade for a given semester computed by taking the sum of the credit hours and grade divided by the total credit hours taken in that semester.

Your semester’s GPA is calculated by dividing your Total Quality Point Equivalent earned for the semester with Total Credit Hours taken for the same semester.

GPA = (Total Quality Point Equivalent earned / Credit Hours taken)

  3. Cumulative Grade-Point-Average (CGPA)
This is your total average grade for all semesters computed by taking the sum of all the credit hours and grade divided by all the total credit hours you have taken for all semesters.

Your CGPA is calculated by dividing your Total Quality Point Equivalent accumulated throughout the Course with the Total Credit Hours accumulated throughout the course.

GPA = (Quality Point Equivalent accumulated / Credit Hours accumulated)

Total Quality Point Equivalent = Quality Point Equivalent accumulated x Cr Hrs accumulated

To be able to continue in the subsequent semester, you must obtain a CGPA of at least 2.00. You will be placed under First Academic probation if your CGPA is less than 2.00 in any semester. If your CGPA is less than 2.0 in two consecutive semesters you will be placed under Second Academic Probation. You will be dismissed if your CGPA is less than 2.00 for three (3) consecutive semesters.

  4. If you are on Academic Probation, you are required to undergo academic counselling prior to course registration. If you fail to attend the academic counselling session, you will be barred from course registration.
