MEDIU visits to the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM)

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) visited the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM Berhad) Headquarters in the city of Shah Alam on 31 January 2011. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Kamal Tawfiq Mohd Hattab; Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. Dr. Wan Mahmood Wan Ab. Majid, Ir. Azman Kassim; Consultant of Faculty of Engineering as well as and Mr. Ayman Abdullah; Coordinator of Faculty of Engineering. MEDIU’s delegation was welcomed by the Chief Executive of SIRIM Berhad; Y.Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Haji Yahaya Ahmad along with others senior officials.
SIRIM Berhad, a wholly-owned company of the Government is Malaysia’s largest provider of technical and quality services. The Malaysian government has announced SIRIM Berhad as the National Organization for Standardization and Quality, and as support for technological excellence in the Malaysian Industrial.
The objective of the visit is to foresee any potential possibilities in mutual cooperation between the two parties in the field of engineering. Both parties have shown interest in future collaboration in terms of allowing MEDIU’s students to use the modern laboratory facilities of the Institute and as well allowing the staff of SIRIM to further postgraduates programmes at the University’s. The two parties expressed the aspiration to organize conferences and exhibitions in cooperation with the organization of graduates at the University Technology Mara (UiTM) and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), and thus working together on any engineering projects and assignments be it domestic or international level.
At the end of the meeting, the Vice President of the Design and Engineering Division; Ir. Dr. Mohamad Jamil Sulaiman accompanies MEDIU’s delegation for a short tour at the laboratory facilities and gallery.
