Functions

1. To establish policies, plans for the future and guidelines that will ensure the realization of the Library’s objectives and performance target figures.

2. To provide administrative oversight for all sections of the Library and pursue goal-oriented administrative methods so that the Library will continually grow.

3. To determine a yearly budget for the Library.

4. To determine both a short-term and a long-term budget for the Library.

5. To maintain quality control of all activities and technical procedures in all the Library’s sections.

6. To establish a plan for sharing and cooperation with other libraries, institutions, and academic entities.

7. To ensure that the Library will serve all sectors of the society at large, not only those who are affiliated with the University.

8. To recognize and give consideration to intellectual property rights, both material and abstract, to authors, and to recognize copyright law, especially in the cataloging context.

9. To continually coordinate with the technical administration for ongoing development and modernization of the structure and composition of the Library’s system so that it serves all the requirements of the Library and its users.

10. To undertake the responsibility of training the librarians to deal with the latest technologies and specialized applications related to libraries.

11. To analyze all declarations and reports produced by the Library system in order to extract general indicators of the Library’s performance in all its sectors.

12. To present periodic reports to the University’s administration summarizing the activities and technical performance of each of the Library’s sections, along with comprehensive statistics regarding all its activities.
