We Shall:

- Develop library collections that support lifelong learning.

- Review the arrangement and presentation methods of the library collections.

- Update the library’s collection management plan to reflect the diverse communities’ needs.

To exploit digital technology to provide convenient and seamless access to knowledge in all formats.

We Shall:

- Develop library content and scientific references in all the arts.

- Present access to online library resources through a simple but effective web interface.

- Provide seamless and portable access to library content, based on user requirements.

- Invest extensively in scientific and electronic journals.

To support the teaching and learning activities of the University in the area of information resources.

We Shall:

- Showcase University cultural collections and unique Library resources.

- Provide appropriate access to library content and services for alumni, partners, and communities.

To promote the University and consolidate its image by providing unique digital library services.

We Shall:

- Provide the information resources that support teaching and learning activities.

- Improve the use of information resources by instructors and learners.

- Simplify and integrate library services for clients to encourage self-sufficiency in finding and using information.

Mid-Term Plan: 2010 – 2012

To strengthen and extend alliances with other national and international libraries and information organizations.

We Shall:

- Collaborate with other libraries and related professional organizations to enhance the development of library services.

- Work with publishers and suppliers to ensure the delivery of excellent services.

To be a trusted knowledge resource providing excellent library services that enable students to acquire all their needs.

We Shall:

- Provide print and digital library collections that encourage intellectual innovation in teaching and learning and enhance the curriculum.

- Use a content management system and consistent metadata standards to provide easy access to learning resources.

- Provide the full suite of software required to access licensed electronic resources, and provide deep searching within digital content.

To facilitate scholarly communication and directly contribute to research and the development of new knowledge.

We Shall:

- Acquire, organize, and make available a range of library information resources appropriate to research and development.

- Study the potential of using the latest generation of web technologies to support research and development activities.

- Use advanced networks to develop the next generation of infrastructure which will accelerate global collaboration in research and innovation.

Long-Term Plan: 2013 – 2015

We Shall:

- Market and promote the library’s services.

- Work with communities to identify changing information needs and customize services to address those needs.

To develop world-class quality management for the library that meets international standards.

We Shall:

- Maintain a flexible and creative approach to the management and development of library resources.

- Use information technology which is interoperable, standards-based and user-friendly.

- Ensure that risks associated with managing library collections and services are understood and mitigated through effective disaster control and business continuity planning.

To provide flexible, functional, inviting, safe, technology-equipped library space.

We Shall:

- Create a site for the library within the University Campus that is equipped with the necessary network capacity to serve the Library’s members.

- Provide the library with the necessary equipment and programmes that ensure members will be able to access the libraries resources easily and conveniently.

- Develop regulations that ensure secure access to the library and complete benefit from its resources.

- Provide an effective system to manage the library and its services.

To benchmark library services against international standards and other establishments.

We Shall:

- Identify key benchmark statistics and setup a database for key benchmark data as well as processes for consistent data capture.

- Participate in related external benchmarking exercises.

- Carryout external audits on the main library services provided by the University.
