The 3rd International Conference on Contemporary Islamic Studies and Emerging Issues 2020 (ICCISEI 2020)

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) led by the Faculty of Islamic Sciences recently organized the 3rd International Conference on Contemporary Islamic Studies and Emerging Issues 2020 (ICCISEI 2020) via Online Conference (https://iccisei2020.mediu.edu.my/) on 29-30 September 2020 with the theme “Pandemics and Diseases from the Islamic Perspective”.

Among the objectives of ICCISEO 2020 are to highlight the role of social institutions and universities in facing crisis, explaining the role of researchers and thinkers in managing crises, spreading awareness, and freeing societies from fear and dismay, explaining how Islamic Jurisprudence responds to pandemics, the effects of pandemics on Sharia law, Muslims’ standpoint of pandemics, the role of e-learning in facing the pandemics crises as well as the role of the Islamic economy in mitigating the effects of pandemics.

The conference was officiated by MEDIU’s CEO, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadlan Mohd Othman in the presence of Acting Deputy CEO (Student Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doucoure Abdou Samadou; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tayeb Mebrouki, Acting Deputy CEO (Academic Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fouad Bounama, Dean Faculty of Islamic Sciences and respective faculty lecturers.

The virtual conference serves as a platform to explore and sharing session on various topics namely ‘Pandemics and Society: A Qur’anic Worldview”,The Sunnah Methodology on Dealing with Pandemics’, ‘History of Pandemics in the Islamic Nation’, ‘Coronavirus Pandemic (Covid-19) on The Eyes of Islam and Medical Perspectives’ among others with a total of 151 papers were presented with conference keynote speakers including Dr. Mohammad Arif (UKM) and Dr. Fahd Saad Addias Arrashidi  (University of Kuwait).
