Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, received Dr. Sheikh Ali Momadi, Coordinator of FAMBRAS Halal, under the Federation of Brazilian Islamic Associations (FAMBRAS), to explore opportunities for academic and scientific collaboration between the University and Islamic institutions and the halal industry in Brazil.

Dr. Sheikh Ali Momadi was received by Dr. Ammar Bathich, Chief Executive Officer of Al-Madinah International University, together with Prof. Dr. Daud Abdul Quadir Elega, Director of International Relations, Dr. Sami Samir, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, and Dr. Al-Harath Abdulaziz Mohammed Ateik, Dean of Admission and Registration.

The meeting discussed several areas of potential collaboration, particularly scientific research in the halal sector and halal industry, as well as opportunities to utilise MEDIU’s academic expertise in preparing and developing qualified professionals with specialised knowledge in Islamic sciences relevant to the halal sector.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of encouraging students from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences to undertake specialised research and academic studies on halal-related issues and the halal industry in Brazil, including topics related to halal production, Shariah supervision, and scientific developments in the sector.

The meeting further explored opportunities for cooperation in distance education, which could enable members of the Muslim community in Brazil to enrol in suitable academic programmes at MEDIU. Such opportunities would contribute to enhancing their Islamic knowledge and skills and preparing qualified individuals capable of serving their communities and playing active roles in education, Islamic outreach, and guidance.

Both sides emphasised the importance of developing this cooperation in support of Islamic education, scientific research, and the development of specialised expertise in the halal sector, while opening new avenues for collaboration between Al-Madinah International University and Islamic and academic institutions in Brazil.

The visit reflects MEDIU’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships and connecting its academic and research programmes with the needs of Muslim communities and global industries, particularly the halal sector, which continues to experience growing international development.
