KUALA LUMPUR – Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU continues to be the choice of institutions of higher learning (HEI) from abroad to expand educational opportunities and cooperation in various fields professionally at the international level.
Chief Executive Officer of MEDIU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fadlan Mohd Othman said the university had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Pan African International University of Somalia in the field of education, scientific research and journal publication.
He explained that the HEI is an institution registered under the Somalia Ministry of Higher Education.
“This MoU is a platform for future cooperation in various fields of academia and community service that can be worked on jointly by MEDIU and Pan African International University,” he said in a statement here.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Fadlan with the Chancellor, Pan African International University, Prof. Isahak Ahmed Musse via online yesterday.
MEDIU currently has more than 4,000 students who are studying on campus conventionally and remotely or online in 90 countries with the provision of more than 80 academic courses that have obtained accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
MEDIU was established in 2007 as an international university in Shah Alam before moving to Desa Petaling in 2018.
The university which was established as a result of the collaboration between the Government of Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, was a waqf-concept university which was then known as a virtual or online university before starting on-campus studies in 2010.
MEDIU’s mission is an Islamic -based education based on Islamic studies and Arabic to make Arabic the language of knowledge and restore its importance as the language of knowledge in the Islamic era in Europe before. – MalaysiaGazette
