Community Service Report: Bright Futures for Refugee Youth

On 30 June 2025, Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) has successfully organised the “Bright Futures: A Holistic Enrichment Day for Refugee Youth” programme at the Save Refugees School, Gombak. The programme benefits 110 children (aged 4–12) and 41 teenagers (aged 13–18), with the support of 15 student volunteers, intern students, and three MEDIU lecturers.

The morning session focuses on sports and physical activities for primary-aged children, promoting fun, teamwork, and physical well-being. The children are visibly delighted, expressing joy and gratitude for the rare chance to play freely in a safe and engaging environment.

In the afternoon, Dr. Syimarmasni binti Arshad and Ms. Siti Nurbaini binti Ishak facilitate a personal grooming and confidence-building workshop tailored for secondary students, particularly those preparing for the IGCSE examinations. The session aims to enhance self-awareness, soft skills, and career readiness—crucial tools for youth who often lack access to such developmental opportunities.

A shared lunch brought all participants together, nurturing a sense of community. The day concludes with the distribution of gifts and heartfelt smiles all around.

We extend our sincere thanks to all sponsors and supporters who made this meaningful initiative possible. MEDIU remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering refugee youth through education and dedicated service.
