Al-Madinah International University organizes social visit to a village in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU), in collaboration with the Malaysian MEDIU Student Association (PERMAM), successfully organised a Community Service Programme in Kampung Kuala Boh, Cameron Highlands on 7 and 8 November recently. The initiative, spearheaded by the PERMAM Student Activities Department and Welfare Bureau, involved 20 local and international students, lecturers and staff who interacted with the Orang Asli community through educational, welfare and cultural activities.

The programme featured interactive sports sessions to build relationships with children and villagers, followed by a series of short talks on Sirah and Ibadah to strengthen spiritual understanding and promote Islamic values. The ‘Explorace’ activity for children and teenagers combined physical challenges with basic Islamic knowledge as well as language-based tasks to improve communication skills in Malay.

A meaningful cultural exchange took place through a gotong royong cooking session or ‘rewang’, where female participants and Orang Asli mothers prepared seven meals sufficient for 150 people, which were then enjoyed together in a lively and meaningful lunch. Participants and villagers also participated in a nature walk to Sungai Kuala Boh to create opportunities for networking and appreciation of the local environment rich in nature.

MEDIU also contributed basic food and other necessities to the village head to support the needs of the community. MEDIU would like to express its gratitude to the villagers for their hospitality and openness throughout the program.

This program directly supports the aspirations of the ‘Tok Batin’ and the Village Development and Security Committee to raise awareness of the importance of basic Islamic knowledge while strengthening the relationship between MEDIU and the Orang Asli community. The participation of local and international participants helps introduce various languages and cultural uniqueness, thus enriching the overall impact of the program. MEDIU remains committed to serving the community and supporting their needs through continuous efforts and engagement.
