Al-Madinah International University participated in the 2026 Annual Ceremony of the Itqan National Quran Memorisation Foundation, which was held at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), in the presence of distinguished government officials, academics, diplomats, scholars, and members of the Quranic community.
Representing the university at the event were Asst. Prof. TS. Dr. Ammar Bathich, CEO of Al-Madinah International University, and Prof. Dr. Yousef Mohammed Abdo, Head of the Department of Quranic Sciences. Their participation reflects the university’s commitment to supporting Quranic initiatives and strengthening cooperation with institutions dedicated to the service of the Holy Quran.
The ceremony was attended by Dato’ Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) of Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Osman Bakar, President of the International Islamic University Malaysia, the Religious Attaché of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Malaysia, the Second Secretary of the Embassy of the State of Qatar, the Ambassador of Yemen to Malaysia, as well as a number of scholars, academics, and memorizers of the Holy Quran.
The event featured the recognition of winners of the 18th Itqan National Quran Memorisation Competition, which attracted the participation of 1,958 contestants. The foundation also celebrated the graduation of 75 Quran memorizers and certified reciters, in addition to honouring 48 competition winners. These achievements reflect the foundation’s continuous efforts in promoting and teaching the Holy Quran.
The delegation from Al-Madinah International University commended the pioneering role played by the Itqan Foundation in spreading the culture of Quran memorisation and Quranic education. They emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between academic and Quranic institutions in nurturing generations distinguished by knowledge, faith, and a commitment to carrying and promoting the values of the Holy Quran.
At the conclusion of the event, Al-Madinah International University extended its heartfelt congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nashwan Abdo Khaled, Founder and Director of the Itqan Quranic Education Foundation, and Dato’ Seri Syed Mohamed Nasser Syed Tahir, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, on the remarkable success of the annual ceremony and the 18th Itqan National Quran Memorisation Competition. The university prayed for continued blessings upon their efforts and those of all individuals involved in this noble initiative, and wished them ongoing success in serving and promoting the Holy Quran.
