Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) received an official delegation from Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin International Islamic University (UniSIRAJ), Perlis, on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, to explore prospects for strategic collaboration and strengthen academic and institutional relations between the two universities.

The delegation was received by Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Ammar Bathish, Chief Executive Officer of Al-Madinah International University, together with several senior officers and members of the University’s administrative and academic leadership.

The UniSIRAJ delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Ashraf Ishraqi Bin Jamil, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and included Dr. Mohd Aizul Yaakob, Director of the Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Centre, Mr. Mohd Shauqi Saiful Suhardi, Director of the Quality Institute, Mr. Abdul Latef AlHadri, Chief Librarian, and Mr. Muhammad Sufi Sharoff Bin Omar Bakhi, Officer at the Research, Innovation and Commercialisation Centre.

Representing MEDIU were Puan Nurul Asyikin Abd Latif, Registrar, Mr. Fakhrul Islam, Chief Technology Officer, Prof. Madya Dr. Abdulkareem Popoola, Manager of the MEDIU Training and Guidance Centre, and Mr. Fahed Al Kerdi, Head of Library.

The discussion session held during the visit focused on several potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions, particularly the development of strategic partnerships that could support education and research, facilitate the exchange of expertise, and promote knowledge and experience sharing between the two universities.

Both parties also discussed the proposed signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MEDIU and UniSIRAJ as a step towards implementing various future collaborative programmes and initiatives in the areas of academia, research, training, and other fields of mutual interest.

The visit forms part of MEDIU’s efforts to expand its network of partnerships with higher education institutions in Malaysia and establish sustainable institutional collaborations that contribute to the development of higher education and research, while promoting the exchange of expertise among academics, researchers, and students.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their commitment to continuing coordination and collaboration towards implementing the proposed areas of cooperation and finalising the Memorandum of Understanding. The partnership is expected to benefit the academic communities and students of both universities while supporting continued institutional development and academic excellence.
